Mountsorrel is Leicestershire’s second branch of Public, joining its older sister in Loughborough. Public is a communal space where people congregate to chat, work and enjoy a coffee, and maybe buy a houseplant or three! It welcomes all comers including families, students, remote workers friends enjoying a weekend coffee at communal tables. It’s no laptops on the weekends though!
The Public team pride themselves on converting interesting and historic buildings and the Mountsorrel branch is no different. This site was a former car showroom and garage on Loughborough Road. The Public team celebrate the charm of original architecture to add character to their spaces, but fuse it with their own creativity and style.
They believe in good coffee that isn’t complicated. And they bake bread fresh daily for their range of sandwiches. And it’s definitely worth picking up a sourdough, a classic tin loaf, or a fluffy focaccia to take home! The star of the show is definitely their Nutella-stuffed croissants though!
