Reunion, Belper

Reunion is a vibrant, thriving community cafe, with a wonderful ethos centred around people and the planet. Locally-sourced dishes look as delightful as they taste, and are served by happy staff. This cafe and deli showcases local artists’ work, runs themed activities, business networking events and they manage a co-working hub in the nearby Old School House. Belper couple Jo Black and Matthew Bubis refurbished the venue and opened it as Reunion in May 2022.

Menu options include sharing platters, breakfasts, sandwiches, salads, deli offerings, small plates and their famous Derbyshire Ciabatta as seen on the BBC. A significant part of their ethos is sustainability, so while they serve some marvellous meat dishes, much of the menu is meat and dairy-free, their variety of salads are as vibrant and delicious as the décor in the venue. The beverage list is varied; excellent coffees, loose leaf teas, ample soft drinks, kombucha as well as alcoholic options including beers from local breweries.

I fully recommend the Huevos Rancheros, Honey Glazed Goats Cheese & Watercress Salad and the Derbyshire Ciabatta. I’m also a fan of their home-made sausage rolls (my favourite is the pork and cranberry).

Sunday lunches are also served – booking is recommended. The cafe is also available for private event hire and outside catering.
