The Crimson Tree Café, Bar & Kitchen

The Crimson Tree has been trading since 2012. It is situated on Nottingham’s Mansfield Road – a road that’s home to several superb independent restaurants, cafes, bakeries, butchers and delis.

The Crimson Tree’s distinctive exterior, with its brightly coloured decorative pillars, hides a spacious café with bar and cosy lounge area to the rear. The décor is light and airy, with Middle Eastern-style patterned tiles and comfortable rustic wooden tables and chairs. When we arrived, the sun streamed through the large windows, creating a bright, warm and friendly welcome.

The Crimson Tree prides itself on sourcing unusual ingredients and on its healthy and tasty food. We opted for a brunch of truffle- and feta-infused scrambled eggs with prosciutto and avocado on sourdough, plus some vanilla and cinnamon toast with apple curd. We were not disappointed: both were delicious.

You can order breakfast, lunch, salads and daily specials here, with tapas and pizza served into the evening. Fresh bread, cakes and pastries are available to take home, too.

It is family (and dog) friendly, and there is some limited seating outside on the pavement. The Crimson Tree is well worth a visit. It is a great addition to this vibrant part of the Mansfield Road.
