Managing Director Andy Hunt, Chef Director Leroy Allen and Operations Manager Simon Barnes will be familiar names to some. This is the talented team behind The White Horse in Ruddington and The Unicorn’s Head at Langar (our Pub of the Year 2024/5). They have now breathed new life into The Duck on the banks of the Grantham Canal.
This pub was once known as The Rutland Arms and then became The Dirty Duck. The new team have simplified the name to ‘The Duck’ but have given the place a significant makeover. Its reopening is great news for hikers, dog walkers and locals alike.
Chef Leroy describes the menu as “pub classics with a modern twist”. And the menu includes weekend breakfasts, sandwiches and Sunday roasts. The main a la carte menu includes gems such as game, cranberry & chestnut pie; Harker’s ribeye steak and sweet potato pakora burger. And the seasonal dessert menu is not to be missed either.
Andy, Leroy and Simon had no plans to take on another venture, they had enough going on with the White Horse and The Unicorn. But one look at The Duck and they fell in love with the place! We’re very glad they did!
