The Dutch Marketplace

The Dutch Marketplace at Brookmans Park has been an independent, family business that started in 1957 as a plant nursey. Over time, founders, and married couple Anna (Dutch) and Hans (German) added a bigger range of plants, a florist and a gift shop. But it wasn’t until the 1990s when their daughter Jose opened Café Dutch.

These days, the garden centre continues to thrive, but now there’s a huge foodhall and in-house deli including local and international cheeses, home-baked pastries from Original Baker and freshly baked bread from Millie Martindale. There is also a meat counter from Mimram Valley Farm Butchers and a huge range of deli produce from local suppliers.

Café Dutch is open daily for breakfasts, brunches and lunches. Meat comes from Mimram and the fruit & veg from their in house greengrocer Coopers Fruit & Vegetables. Breakfasts range from eggs on toast, pancake stack up to full English or eggs benedict. Lunches cover all bases: from simple sandwiches and wraps, to jacket spuds and poke bowls to sausage & mash or fish & chips! There’s also plenty of cakes and cookies too!
