The Elm, Abbots Ripton

The Elm sits within the historic Abbots Ripton estate in Cambridgeshire and is a stunning Grade II listed building. It was originally built in the 15th century as a large hall catering for cattle drovers who were making their way to the famous cattle market in nearby St Ives. At that time, around 12,000 cattle were sold a day so The Elm must have seen a great many cows back in the day!

Today, the pub is more likely to be frequented by locals and those looking for an excellent meal. Being part of a larger estate gives this establishment a distinctive advantage; much of the produce on the menu is sourced from the estate itself including game, fruit and vegetables with the rest of the ingredients from nearby farms.

In addition to pub classics, you’ll find a seasonal menu ensuring that each time you visit, there’s something new to try. A concise wine menu also reflects the seasons and here you’ll find plenty of surprises.

And if you really love this pub, you might even want to check into one of the beautiful, recently refurbished bedrooms.
