The Old Horse, Leicester

For many Leicester locals, The Old Horse is more than just a pub. Overlooking Victoria Park on London Road, it has long been a popular meeting place for drinkers, diners and event-goers heading to nearby De Montfort Hall.

In 2026, a major refurbishment by Leicester’s Beautiful Pubs Collective in partnership with Everards gave this much-loved venue a new lease of life. Backed by an investment of more than £1 million, the project transformed the pub throughout, creating more comfortable spaces, a new kitchen and pizza oven, and significant improvements to its already popular outdoor area.

Crucially, the team retained the character that made The Old Horse a favourite in the first place. While new dining areas provide space for food-led visits, the heart of the pub remains focused on great drinks, conversation and community.

The menu offers a mix of pub favourites, pizzas and seasonal dishes, making it equally suited to a casual lunch, pre-theatre meal, family gathering or evening with friends. The spacious garden is a particular draw during warmer months.

A confident blend of old and new, The Old Horse remains one of Leicester’s standout pubs and a major vote of confidence in the city’s hospitality scene.
