The Rutland & Derby

Few pubs are as well run as The Rutland & Derby, which is located in the middle of Leicester. This is a really well-cared-for pub, and attention to detail, the desire to offer the best possible customer experience, and the landlord’s downright perfectionism shine through. There’s a great selection of wines and beers (including some unusual ones), and plenty of pleasant places in which to drink them, including a fantastic roof terrace.

The food is comforting and tasty, whether you go for one of the snacks or something a little larger. You can choose from a great selection of pub tapas such as scotch duck egg with brown sauce; Rutland fried chicken; “proper” meatballs in tomato stew and white sauce; Charlie’s mini bangers; and Hill Lamb kofta. Hand-stretched stonebaked pizzas are also available, alongside pub classics like ribeye steak with horseradish butter, and honey and mustard ham, egg and chips.

Member offer:

A complimentary glass of Le Rouleur French wine (white or red) when dining from the ‘Pizza & Pubs Classics’ menu sections. To claim the offer, please mention you are a member when booking on 0116 262 3299 and/or show your card when you order your meal. Offer valid for up to two people per membership card.

Really good pubThis place is managed really well and you can tell it tries hard to impress customers
  2. Matt says:
Never disappoints Visit a few times a month - more in the summer to make use of the upstairs terrace in the sunshine. Great food: love their pizzas. Good range of beers too. What's not to love about this pub?
  3. Jane says:
City centre gemHad pulled duck poutine for lunch...loved it. Manager's a very chatty bloke who knows how to sell a beer and the staff are all attentive and polite. Definitely a place to carb-up after a hard day's shop. Heard Saturday night is a good evening with non-intrusive live 'background' music.
