The Pear Tree in Woodhouse Eaves is a warm, intimate Italian with the feel of a proper family-run village restaurant. Several trusted foodies pointed us this way, and it is easy to see why. The kitchen keeps things focused, drawing inspiration from the family’s former Quorn restaurant, Gino’s, where the menu changed whenever the cooking demanded it.
That same spirit runs through The Pear Tree today: a small, freshly cooked menu with plenty of Italian comfort and a few broader European touches. You might find Gianni’s lasagne, penne arrabbiata with fresh chilli and tomato, orecchiette with fennel sausage, parmesan and chilli, or spinach and wild mushroom gnocchi. The pizzas are a big draw too, from Old School Nduja to Queen Burrata with Parma ham, rocket and parmesan.
Starters such as Loch Fyne salmon with horseradish cream or golden beetroot with whipped goat’s cheese set things up well. This is a cosy, inviting place with many loyal fans. It also serves some great Sunday roasts.
