The Plough, Sleapshyde

If you’re lucky enough to be driving down a little lane in Sleapshyde between St Albans and Hatfield, you’ll land at The Plough. This is a wonderful foodie pub run by St Albans resident, Kelly Darling and supported by her mum and sister.

The Darlings took over the pub in Feb 2025 and have focused on creating a relaxed-friendly atmosphere featuring quizzes, live music, coffee mornings and burger nights.

It’s a lovely pub on the eye – white frontage with gorgeous thatched roof outside, with rustic beams and cosy corners on the inside. Plus there’s a wonderful garden out the back with a view over the fields.

Drinkers will like the range of cask ales on draught, plus the walls of keg beers too. But it’s a missed opportunity to not grab a bite to eat while you’re there. There’s a seasonal menu which is adjusted throughout the year. Plus roasts on Sundays. There are pub classics like burgers, fish & chips or pies, plus a catch of the day, chicken schnitzel or a big rack of ribs. But take our word for it, grab some Korean pork belly bites or beef croquettes as they are superb!

It’s great to see The Plough on the up and we really wish Kelly and family all the success!
