The Silver Cup is an outstanding foodie pub on the edge of Harpenden, and a fantastic family business. It’s run by sibling duo Olivia and Matthew and their tight and enthusiastic team.
Although this is a pub well known for its food, Olivia and team are more than happy if you just want to pop in for a drink or two. Whether your preferred tipple is a cocktail, a glass of wine, a soft drink or cask ale, there’s options for every taste.
But in our humble opinion, to skip a meal at The Silver Cup is an opportunity missed! The menu is modern British with some worldly influences thrown in for good measure. Chef Matthew and team are committed to fresh seasonal British produce and local ingredients. And as you’d expect from Matthew’s stellar career, the standard is extremely high. And on our visit, the padron peppers, mushroom arancini, half shell scallops and the burrata with pesto were superb. We did seriously consider the excellent sharing steak options. Definitely next time!
This high quality food in a great setting, but the friendliness of staff creates a wonderful all-round experience. And don’t just take our word for it, The Silver Cup features in the Top 50 UK Gastropubs.
