Three Horseshoes

This large, fascinating and unique pub on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border is a dream find for food-lovers.

The outbuildings are home to chocolate-maker Bittersweet, which holds regular chocolate workshops and enhances the Three Horseshoes excellent menu with award-winning truffles. You won’t find better petit fours anywhere! The Horseshoes also features a farm shop/deli selling wines, cakes, oils and more. Highlights include the Three Horseshoes very own ketchup, superb lime curd and oat crumbles.

Head chef Ian Davison is passionate about good-quality local produce and has recently created a kitchen garden that supplies fresh herbs and vegetables. His style is simple, well-cooked, taste-packed seasonal dishes.

Inside this 250-year-old pub, which began life as a farrier’s business, you’ll find a traditional bar area with quarry-tiled floor and open fire, while next door are beautifully appointed dining areas filled with antique tables and objets d’art.

  1. Nick Shepperson says:
Great quality and very helpful ownersEaten dinner at The Three Horseshoes several times as a couple and with friends and have never been disappointed. Reasonable selection of pub food, well cooked and well presented. Good value for money, relaxed service that is happy to work at your speed. Based on our experience we booked the whole pub for a family event one Monday afternoon. Only later did we realise that on Monday the restaurant is normally closed and the owners had agreed to open up to especially to cater for us. What more can I say!
