Peacock Farm
Peacock Farm in the Vale of Belvoir has been in the same family for five generations and is now run by Donya and Leigh Donger. It was when Donya left her job to start their family that she started to think of ideas for the farm. Rapeseed had been grown on the farm for many years and so the couple decided to press their own rapeseed oil for cooking. This proved so popular that they began to offer other products including more varieties of rapeseed oil, two kinds of vinegar – blackberry and raspberry, and honey.
The Donger family works in harmony with nature and all the family gets involved as they seek to be as sustainable as possible. Keeping their hives of bees happy is important and Donya can often be spotted in her beekeeping suit at one of the sites or indeed collecting and rehoming swarms found in the local community. Naturally, it’s delicious honey – and differs in taste depending on what flowers the bees have been feasted on!
You’ll find an honesty store at the farm or see the website for stockists.
