A relaxed sister to The Chubby Castor
Behind sister fine-dining restaurant The Chubby Castor, The Yard Castor offers the same ingredient-led cooking in a more relaxed, sociable format. It’s built for long lunches, cocktails in the garden and easy dinners with friends, with a covered and heated space with the potential to keep the place going year-round, although check the website for information on winter closing.
Food leans into crowd-pleasers done with care: think Wagyu burgers, BBQ pork belly, schnitzel Caesar salad, deep-fried hake with proper chips, plus pasta and seasonal veg-led plates. Sunday roasts have become a local favourite, and the drinks list backs it up with cocktails that suit the setting.
Wednesdays are for Community Pizza (weather permitting): wood-fired “posh pizza” for lunch and dinner, with any pizza plus a drink for £18.
There’s also a monthly pop-up from Westgate Bakery (Grantham), bringing pastries, sourdough, cakes and sausage rolls to the counter on the first Saturday of each month.
