Cocktail school at Hotel Maiyango

Multi-award winning Hotel Maiyango in Leicester is running cocktail classes.

The boutique hotel and restaurant, which won gold in the 2010 Enjoy England Excellence Awards, can cater for between two and 40 budding mixologists.

If you’ve ever been to Maiyango you might be aware of their excellent seasonal cocktail menu (Black Forest Gateaux anyone?) and head chef Philip Sharpe (pictured above) loves combining flavours not just in the kitchen but behind the bar, too.

Maiyango’s Black Forest Gateaux concoction

In the cocktail classes you’ll create both classics and individual concoctions under the guidance of the hotel’s head mixologist.

Maiyango is an independently owned hotel in the centre of Leicester. Proprietor Aatin Anadkat is passionate about Leicestershire produce and his ‘Maiyango Loves Local’ policy means the venue is committed to sourcing local ingredients.

For example, much of the seasonal fruit used in the cocktails comes from Sarah Field from Saffron Acres, an inner-city community allotment, while the kitchen uses flour from Claybrooke Mill.
