Fine-Dining Restaurant of the Year: Great Food Club Awards 2020/21

Winner

Alchemilla, Nottingham

Finalists

The Jew’s House, Lincoln
Hambleton Hall, near Oakham, Rutland
John’s House, Mountsorrel, Leicestershire

The winner is Alchemilla in Nottingham – a stylish modern venue under vaulted arches that has very quickly become one of the Midlands’, if not the UK’s, most exciting restaurants.

Alchemilla offers a choice of tasting menus with matched wines. We selected the five-course tasting menu and particularly enjoyed the squab pigeon, hen of the woods and peppercorn sauce. We were also treated to three pre-starters including a divine slice of potato rosti topped with smoked eel and ox heart.

Chef Alex Bond and his team have created something extraordinary at Alchemilla with their exciting and innovative brand of cooking. In a very tough category (all four Finalists are brilliant at what they do), Alchemilla takes the title of Great Food Club Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year 2020/21 thanks to its use of pioneering flavours, for its inspirational ambition, and because it constantly tries to push the culinary boundaries.
