The winner is Welbeck Farm Shop on the Welbeck Estate near Worksop.
This sumptuously stocked shop would be a treat even if it didn’t showcase produce from the food and drink hub that is the Welbeck Estate. The fact it does – notably Stichelton cheese, beers from Welbeck Abbey Brewery, raw milk from the Welbeck Dairy, and bread from Welbeck Bakehouse – makes it extra special.
The butchery counter is outstanding, too, showcasing the best local pork, beef and lamb from the estate and from local farmers.
In an extremely competitive category – where all finalists provided strong reasons for winning – Welbeck Farm Shop, with its unique food credentials, takes this year’s GFC Champion Food Shop title.
