Black Swan Idridgehay
Located in the middle of a rural village, the Black Swan is a gem of a find; it’s a village pub serving fantastic food. The exterior is of a traditional country pub with black and white detail. On entering, you’ll find a bar area for drinkers and a dining area with modern rustic decor, then you go down to the contemporary conservatory restaurant, flooded with light.
We visited as a party of eight on a Sunday afternoon and ordered a variety of roasts: beef, pork and chicken, all super-generous portions of perfectly cooked meats with rich gravy, huge homemade Yorkshire puds (almost too big for the plate!), stuffing, crispy roast potatoes, creamy mash, bowls of cauliflower cheese and ample accompanying veg. It’s also worth noting that the crackling here is done to perfection.
The atmosphere is welcoming with chatty and attentive staff. We can’t wait to return!
