Buongiorno Italia is a beloved family-run Italian deli in St Albans. It’s been a staple of the community since 1978, when Francesco and Immacolata Picciuto opened Franco Stores. Then, as now, the walls were full of authentic, traditional Italian food.
In 1991, their son Antonio took over the shop. As with his brother and sister, he’d grown up in the family business learning his trade and helping choose what products to sell. But when his father turned the business into a pizza restaurant, Antonio decided to just reopen the shop in the unit next door.
Fast forward to the present day and it’s a multi award winning business with one of the best deli counters in the South East. It’s constantly busy in Buongiorno Italia and that’s testament to its quality. The counter is full of gorgeous olives, antipasto, cheese and cured meats while the shelves have all of the ingredients and groceries you need for an Italian kitchen.
Plus, it’s a coffee bar too, so you can grab an espresso while you’re choosing a pastry or a filled ciabatta.
Buongiorno is an amazing family business, approaching its fiftieth year. Testament to the passion of the family, the dedication of the staff and the quality of the products!
