Cleaver & Wake
Cleaver & Wake is an exciting addition to Nottingham’s restaurant scene – it opened in 2022 and the team is led by chef, Laurence Henry, who won MasterChef: The Professionals in 2018.
Laurence was born in Nottingham and began his career in London working for Gordon Ramsey and Jason Atherton. The year before he won MasterChef, he returned to Nottingham to take up a position at Restaurant Sat Bains.
The look and feel of Cleaver & Wake is elegant and refined with fresh flowers and stylish decor –this is somewhere you’ll want to come for a really special occasion. And the dishes on the menu showcase British produce at its very best.
Perhaps you’ll start with Pigeon Terrine (with duck liver, pickled girolles, quince and port purée & toasted brioche) before moving onto Halibut (roasted in foaming butter, salsify, smoked eel & Champagne velouté) and then finish with a selection of British cheeses?
As you’d expect, the drinks offering is equally as divine with fine wines, champagne and tempting cocktails including one called Rewilding which contains Hepple vodka (distilled in Northumberland), Douglas Fir sherbet and nettles. Delicious!
