D’Alessandro’s is an excellent local pizzeria in Matlock, Derbyshire. With amazing views over the Derbyshire Dales, it’s well worth a visit after a hard bike ride or a stroll through the hills!
Owners Ben and Matthew started making pizzas during lockdown and realised they had a real flair for it. From their Smedley Street location, they make delicious hand-made pizzas.
Whatever your topping choice, you know that they have a focus on sustainability. All of their pizzas are 100% sourdough, made with local organic stone-milled flour. The herbs are home-grown and the mozzarella is produced with local organic raw milk. Even the wine is organic!
It’s a cosy venue, with two tables seating up to eight, but with huge picture windows allowing you to watch the world go by. But if you’re not enjoying the view outside, you could watch the magic happening inside: first, the pizza gets made on the floured worktop and then cooked in the brick oven.
Before you leave though, don’t pass up the opportunity to try one of their signature cookies: homebaked miso walnut chocolate chip! Delightful!
And for drinkers in the local pub considering another bag of crisps, why not just call up D’Alessandro’s and take one of their pizzas back to enjoy with your pint!
