Four Bells Inn, Woodborough

The Four Bells Inn in pretty Woodborough is a distinctive, welcoming pub serving bold food in a beautiful setting. We dropped by and enjoyed the combination of character, atmosphere and flavour. Our editor Philip was particularly impressed by the menu – a confident fusion of Asian-inspired dishes and pub classics.

Landlady and landlord Charlie and Jake – who were already familiar faces here as general manager and head chef – took over in 2024 and have made an immediate impact. Their passion shines through in the food and the warm, attentive service.

Expect dishes such as sticky Southern fried chicken with spicy honey and sriracha, Canarian crispy potatoes with mojo rojo and mains such as Vietnamese chicken supreme and pork belly with poached apple sauce. The pub classics menu offers the likes of beef and ale pie and ale-battered haddock with triple-cooked chips.

Local ales are well represented on the bar.
