Hartington Creamery

Hartington Creamery is a rather special place indeed. It doesn’t just produce cheese, it produces award-winning cheese and uses traditional recipes to create unique flavours you can’t find anywhere else. You might be surprised to know that Hartington has permission to make Stilton and it’s the only place in Derbyshire it can be produced.

These premium cheeses are influenced by the Peak District landscape and made using local milk keeping food miles to a minimum. The creamery can trace its routes back to the 1870s and was established by the Duke of Devonshire and while there have been many changes, it’s certainly stood the test of time and the current creamery is based at Pikehall Farm.

Whether you favour a blue cheese, a creamy cheese or something that will certainly wake up your tastebuds (we’re thinking the Chocolate and Chilli Cheese), Hartington is sure to produce something you will love.

The creamery isn’t open to the public but you can visit The Old Cheese Shop in Hartington to see the cheese for yourself or order on the creamery’s own website.
