Le Péché Mignon in Bishop’s Stortford is a charming, family‑run French café and épicerie that opened in May 2023. It already has an older sister just off the Holloway Road in north London which has been in business since 2006.
For the owners Ludovic and Mairead, it was time to make a change, and although they continue to run the Highbury branch, Bishops Stortford is now the big focus for the family.
The idea of Le Péché Mignon is a family-run neighbourhood café, restaurant and food store. A great spot to pick up a Monmouth coffee and a cheeky pastry or slice of cake. Or stay a while and tuck into a croque monsieur with a nice glass of wine. Plus there’s a great range of deli items such as cheeses, meats, olives, wines and other goodies to grab before you leave.
But if you can’t drop by during the day, then why not try Friday or Saturday evenings! There are beautiful small plates and starters such as bayonne ham & celeriac remoulade or pissaladière, which is a French flatbread tart. Or larger main courses such as baked cod, beef bourguignon or gratin d’aubergine. And all washed down with an excellent selection of French wines.
Cosy, communal with a welcoming atmosphere. A slice of France in east Herts!
