If you venture outside Much Hadham, to the Grandey’s Place collective of heritage craftspeople, you’ll find Micro Bakery – and you’ll be very glad you did.
Grandey’s Place is a philanthropic venture created to help sustain and nurture the UK’s Heritage Crafts and it’s home to sculptors milliners, watchmakers and silversmiths. But it’s also home to Richard Lewis and his craft bakery. Richard used to be a highly awarded private chef and travelled the world preparing amazing delicacies for the great and the good, but he’s decided to focus his energy on traditional baking.
Micro Bakery is an ethically sourced sourdough bakery specialising Ancient Grain Sourdough and complex viennoiserie. Richard, and his team, respect time honoured techniques in order to protect this heritage craft. And the reward is exceptional loaves made from Khorasan, Spelt, Solina, Rye and Red Fife.
Richard is committed to sustainability and community. Local products, made with local ingredients to serve local people – and reintroducing an ancient craft. The good people of Much Hadham are very lucky to have him!
