Rare-breed beef and pork, butchered and cured on the farm
Northfield Farm is a proper farm-to-fork operation and was a finalist in our Food Producer of the Year category 2025/26. For two generations, the team has reared rare and traditional breeds of British beef and pork, then butchered, dry-aged and cured on site.
The farm shop near Cold Overton is a local treasure, and their weekly market stalls in Oakham and Uppingham make it easy to stock up. Expect exceptional meat, plus sausages, bacon, pies and more, all made with the sort of care that shows in the eating.
Charcuterie is a major strength. Fourth-generation Italian butcher Piero leads small-batch curing and the results are superb, from air-dried cuts to neatly judged smoked and cooked meats.
Northfield Farm also sells further afield, including a permanent stand at Borough Market where the team turns out hot salt beef sandwiches and prime steaks. You can order online for next-day delivery too. With self-catering accommodation on the farm, it doubles as a smart base for a food-focused break. Quietly outstanding, hands-on and dependable.
