Provenance – Brix + Mortar is a fabulous find situated just outside Cambridge, comprising a restaurant, café and deli.
The passionate team showcase seasonal produce from local farmers and suppliers via a monthly changing menu. They source many ingredients from within a five-mile radius, cooking them to perfection on their trademark brick wood-fired hearth.
On our visit, the quality of the dishes was exemplary. For example, we enjoyed a starter of celeriac soup, hazelnuts, apple and sourdough. Next, came Suffolk lamb, Hasselback potatoes, kale, black garlic and gremolata. Finally, we savoured an almond and marmalade tart with local honey ice cream.
Provenance also provides catering for weddings and other events from an original Airstream and horsebox trailer.
