The Bell, East Langton

The Bell in East Langton is a 17th-century country pub in the Welland Valley, near Market Harborough, combining rustic character with seriously good cooking. Low ceilings, exposed beams and cosy corners create a traditional pub feel, while the welcome from owners Neil and Steph and their team keeps things relaxed and friendly.

Food sits at the heart of The Bell. Former chef and co-owner Neil shapes the menus, with head chef Stefan delivering carefully considered, skilfully executed dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Lunch might be pizza, pasta or seasonal salads, while dinner could include saddle of venison with fondant potatoes, lemon sole with caper butter or hanger steak with mac and cheese and chimichurri.

Regular themed evenings add variety, including Chip Shop Tuesday, Steak Night on Wednesday and an à la carte menu from Thursday to Saturday, alongside seasonal specials throughout the year.

Local drinks feature strongly, including Langton Brewery beers – fittingly, the brewery began life in The Bell’s cellar. A cosy bar, award-winning garden and regular quiz nights make this a proper village pub worth seeking out.
