The Broadway, Leicester

The Broadway is one of a growing crop of Leicester venues that combine the traditional British pub experience but also serve food from South Asia. This is the sort of place that you can go for a couple of drinks and then grab a curry while you’re there, but no need to plan too far in advance.

As far as pubs goes, this is a simple neighbourhood pub, with a well-stocked bar and with plenty of screens to catch the football or boxing. The perfect place for an after work pint or sport on the weekend.

But it’s the curry that is so popular here. Firstly, the menu is not overwhelming. There are plenty of options for vegetarians or carnivores alike and all very reasonably priced. It’s all cooked on the premises using fresh ingredients and all extremely tasty.

The clever thing about Broadway, and venues like it, is that the owners could probably make more money with more restaurant covers. But that would pull the heart out of the Broadway. This is a pub first, which also does food, rather than a traditional restaurant. The reality is that not everyone wants a highly polished (and expensive) restaurant experience. Sometimes you just want a couple of pints, a good laugh and a decent curry with your family or friends. You’ll get all of that and more at The Broadway!
