The Toaster, nestled in the heart of Bishop’s Stortford on South Street, stands out as a welcoming breakfast and brunch café that effortlessly blends quality, with warmth and a relaxed community feel.
Owners Charlotte and Colin have created something very special. Their motivation to open came from the fact that breakfast options in the town were mainly greasy spoons – and there was a gap in the market for a slightly different profile of café. They started out as The Sourdough Toaster and had a location in the Eat 17 collective, but later on outgrew it and found their own spot in South Street.
The décor is funky, casual with lots of nice little touches such as toaster icons on the menu holders. But this is definitely not a pretentious place. This is a spot to grab a toastie, ciabatta sandwich, smashed avo on toast or a big ‘meaty’ breakfast. The coffee’s good, the service is attentive and it’s run by lovely people.
Just what you want from a neighbourhood café!
