John’s House Restaurant

John’s House is a fine dining restaurant in a charming setting on a family farm. The cooking is creative and of excellent quality, the service is impeccable and the dining experience as a whole is special. In September 2015, John’s House was awarded one Michelin Star.

The setting is a refurbished old family farmhouse on Stonehurst Farm – a pleasant little farm park where visitors can see the animals, visit a classic car museum, buy produce at the farm shop and enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake in a separate cafe.

John’s House was launched in December 2014 when chef John Duffin returned to his family farm to open his own restaurant after spells with Simon Rogan at Roganic, plus Claude Bosi and Marcus Wareing. John and his team use lots of produce from Stonehurst Farm and the local area, and their menus feature adventurous flavour combinations and nose-to-tail cooking. Stand-out dishes include parsnip dumplings, braised oxtail, madeira and ox tongue; Stonehurst hogget, wood blewits, onions and thyme; crispy pig’s head terrine with confit egg yolk, bacon and parsley; and carrot sorbet, yoghurt, licorice and mint.
