JR Hammersley & Son Fishmonger is a long-established and much-loved local business, celebrated for its exceptional quality, freshness, and warm customer service. It’s been serving customers in Brookmans Park since 1926. Current owners Iain and Lorraine have been in charge since 1998, and before that Iain was at Billingsgate.
These days, Iain is up and down to Billingsgate on a daily basis making sure that customers get the freshest catches. He’ll be there at 2am, ensuring that he’s picking only the best for his customers who include pubs, restaurants, caterers and nursing homes, plus private customers nipping into the shop. When you pop in, you’ll find a great range of seafood including cod, crab, haddock, lobster, salmon, scallops, sea bass and shellfish.
This is one of those amazing independents that’s becoming increasingly rare these days – a fantastic family business that is preserving a long-held tradition. And it’s the sort of business that’s a real centre-piece to the Brookmans Park community. Long may it continue!
