Ovation Wine and Spirit Bar in Oakham, Rutland is the brainchild of husband and wife team Chris and Bianca Nix. Chris grew up in Rutland and met his South African wife Bianca whilst working on luxury super yachts around the world. Whenever Chris came back to Oakham he realised that there was definitely something missing in the town, and Bianca agreed. They opened Ovation in 2021 and it’s since gone from strength to strength.
Ovation is committed to serving the best in local and international produce. As you’d expect, there’s a wide range of wines from France, Italy and Spain. But there’s also a good section of “Bianca’s Home Comforts” – wines from her South African homeland. There’s also drops from the UK to sample, including some from Welland Valley Vineyard, just up the road in Market Harborough.
There are plenty of cocktails and spirits to try; plus local beers and ciders from Grainstore, Round Corner and The Rutland Cider company. You can also grab a snack to accompany your drink – small plates and sharing platters inspired from the four corners of the globe.
So whether it’s a date night, an after-work drink or a night out with family or friends, Ovation will likely have your favourite tipple!
