The Admiral Rodney

In late 2023, the award-winning team from Ye Olde Bridge in Oxton (just a few miles away) breathed new life into The Admiral Rodney. Hannah Lloyd and the team have managed to retain the village charm with the old beams and walls adorned with photographs paying homage to Calverton’s coal-mining past, but they’ve also given the pub a modern touch.

This welcoming village local now offers an eclectic and varied menu featuring Asian-inspired tapas dishes such as Japanese fried chicken, hoisin duck bao buns and vegan Japanese popcorn chicken as well as more classic fare such as almighty pizzas, loaded fries, burgers and pies. The kitchen is open all day, seven days a week, and everything on the menu is available for takeaway.

Music lovers will enjoy a visit to The Admiral Rodney with their weekly live jam and open mic sessions as well as bigger events like ‘RodneyStock’ and ‘Glastonbury @ The Pub’. There’s plenty of live sport available in the taproom and there are quiz nights on Mondays too. They also host parents, and their ‘Little Rodders’, at weekly meet-up coffee mornings. Plus there’s a garden bar with space to relax, work or hire out for events.

The pub is also home to the Craft Beer Club which offers members the opportunity to sample new or rotating keg beers.

The Admiral Rodney is a traditional village pub, but with a contemporary attitude!
