The Wine Bar

Behind the small traditional shop frontage, The Wine Bar is a chilled-out, modern, Tardis-like space in a beautiful and ancient building. A spacious, relaxed bar with comfortable chairs reaches though to a large and sunny garden; the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine from the superb selection on offer. A nicely chilled Pinot Grigio went down especially well after a two-hour meeting at the nearby George Hotel. Bottled beers are also available as, of course, is coffee.

Food at The Wine Bar is rather cleverly supplied by The Stamford Deli, just around the corner and another Great Food Club recommendation. Choose from the menu at The Wine Bar, they phone the order through, and the range of snacks, salads, cheese, quiches, tarts and cakes prepared by the neighbouring deli will be whizzed round for you to enjoy with your glass of wine or beer.

They also produce in small batches The Stamford Dry Gin – which is available to buy by the bottle. This is created by The Wine Bar and is infused with their hand-selected botanicals including juniper, coriander, tangerine, lemon, lime, macadamia nuts and angelica.

A great place to hook up with friends and enjoy a few glasses of wine – especially in the summer when you can take advantage of the garden!

  2. Will Hetherington says:

The guys who run the Wine Bar have got it just right at the moment. It’s a proper party bar and you will always have fun here.

  3. Graham Wright says:

Small but characterful venue, with a well-designed and atmospheric garden – especially on a fine summer’s evening. Had an excellent lunch there not too long ago.
