Vines Bakery, Lincoln

Vine’s Bakery has a rich history dating back to 1904 in London. Back then it was a thriving family business with outlets across the East End and New Cross. But when the founder got caught trading black market barrels to passing boatmen, the business ended up in the hands of ABC (the Aerated Bread Company). Fast forward over a century and descendent Emma Vine revived the brand, this time in Steep Hill in Lincoln and created a much-loved award-winning business.

But as with many businesses, the pandemic hit the business hard. Fortunately Milly Turner and her father, long-time fans and customers of Vines, stepped in.

Now based in Saxilby, Milly, head baker Rob and team are building something special. Maintaining traditional recipes and baking techniques they supply excellent independents across the Lincoln area and beyond with top-quality bread and bakes.

The range includes breads from sourdough to ciabattas or pastries such as pain au chocolat and croissants. But definitely try one of their amazing Kouign-amanns – a sweet, round Breton laminated dough pastry containing layers of butter and sugar!

Vine’s supplies these great places and more: Caffe Portico Doddington Hall and Gardens, Redhill Farm Shop, The White Horse Lincoln, and Jorge Artisan Foods Uk.
