Carmela’s Kitchen
Carmela’s Kitchen is run by Carmela Sereno Hayes, a Northamptonian with Italian blood coursing through her veins! A pasta expert and cookbook author who has written for this website, she runs cookery classes and demonstrations in her family home, occasionally making use of her Sicilian-imported garden pizza oven. Constantly inspired by her roots (her parents moved to Bedford from southern Italy in the 1950s), she is a fan of authentic, traditional Italian cooking. Her cookbooks – ‘A Passion for Pasta’ and ‘Southern Italian Family Cooking’ – give clues as to where her food passions lie.
As well as cookery classes, Carmela also runs monthly supper clubs at The Italian Shop in Northampton. This vintage-style Italian deli offers delicious treats during the day and transforms into a cosy yet rustic supper club by night, hosting up to 16 diners, with eight diners in each room.
If you’re a fan of Italian food culture and cooking, why not try one of Carmela’s courses or supper clubs? Check her website for more details.
