Little Petra
True Jordanian cuisine isn’t too easy to find but should you wander onto Mill Road in Cambridge, you’ll find it at Little Petra. Run by Yaseen Hlalat who was born in Wadi Musa, close to Petra, you’ll be welcomed in like an old friend.
Once you step inside, you’re transported to the ancient city with evocative photographs of Jordan and authentic dishes that are made to be shared.
On the menu, you’ll find: Hummus and Garlic Hummus made to a traditional recipe; Grilled Chicken Livers served simply with garlic, lemon and coriander; Fatoush and Yakhanit which is slow cooked chicken or lamb with Arabic spice.
To finish up, try Kunafa – layers of crisp pastry, on a layer of soft white cheese and covered with sugar syrup or Mahalabya Dessert, a dish with coconut and cinnamon.
